An organization’s best people can be their biggest blockers when going digital

An organization’s successful people in a company in digital transformation are often its biggest barriers to building a data-driven culture. Why? Because they can feel threatened by change. Their success was built in an environment of experience-driven decisions backed with some data. They will often think “why should I suddenly change my way of thinking and working?”

Despite the fact that experience-driven thinking may work 99% of the time, the 1% in which it does not can be very significant. If they are lucky it is just a missed opportunity. If they aren’t, it can be not seeing a slow but significant downward trend in the business and thus not making the right business decisions on time.

Those successful people need to understand their role in the new digital reality. Adding the element of data to their vast experience will only increase their worth for the organization.

Data is a reminder to stay humble and stay alert, as it can always offer insights that a person otherwise didn’t see. Taking that new insight and adding personal experience is what brings you to the next level.

It can make all the difference in the success of a change if everyone understands this.
